It was 1995 my second year in New Zealand. I was a high school student at Sacred Heart Girls' College Hamilton. That day I was doing my assignment on my free period when I heard a few friends talking about the Mobile Blood donation unit come and visit our school. I was worried that if it any restriction on an international student like me to donate blood in New Zealand. It's the first time in my life too. So I ran down to the school hall to see and I asked if I could do it. I was a bit tiny but my weight did past the minimum limit for donor. So a nurse took me to the table/bed. I looked around and saw some of my friends fainted after. Some of them scared but still willing to give blood.

My thought at that time is "Yes, I want to be part of it. I want to be able to help someone. I'm young and strong and healthy enough, the needle is not going to hurt me that much. If my blood can help anyone then I'm happy. The most important thing is I can make more blood.
