2014

Kiwis have summer sussed, it’s all about relaxing and our essentials are pretty simple - a comfy possi, feet up, a relaxing drink and a bite to eat… But this summer you don’t need to be at the bach to enjoy all these things, because New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) regularly offers its donors the best seat in the house, followed by a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit to those who help save lives over the holiday period (well actually, at any time of the year).

International Volunteer’s Day on the 5th of December is the day when organisations world wide acknowledge the huge contribution made by the volunteers that support them on a daily basis.

The Minister of Health’s opening of the New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) Christchurch Blood Centre at 15 Lester Lane this week is a significant milestone for the Blood Service, with the centre set to become the lifeblood of the South Island as its new southern headquarters.
